Nonviolent Communication workshop

Are you curious about building deeper, more authentic connections?

While mindfulness on a yoga mat or meditation cushion brings us more in touch with ourselves, life’s greatest joys and challenges often stem from the quality of our connection with the people around us.

Connection is vital, yet so many of us feel stuck in surface-level conversations, held back by fear of judgment. What if we could break free and experience more joyful, connected relationships instead?

Description of the workshop

Judgments - we all have them. For better or for worse (pun intended), most of us have been habituated to categorise the world, each other and ourselves into what's wrong and what's right; what's bad and what's good. And yet, if you're someone who has practised any meditation or mindfulness, you will quickly have discovered just how much energy they take up! It can be painful and exhausting holding resentment and distance towards others, particularly those we love most dearly.

The good news is, we don't need to get rid of all our judgments in order to experience inner peace and healthy relationships with each other. I believe every judgment contains the beauty of what we value and care about. By practising shifting our attention to the message underneath our judgments, we can empower ourselves to speak for what matters to us while staying in connection with others.

In this 2-hour workshop, we'll practice 4 simple steps to befriend our judgments, and use them as doorways to reconnect with what we value and need.

We'll address how to...

  • Welcome your judgments as doorways to your authenticity
  • Express what's important to you in a way that you will be heard and understood
  • Rehumanise your 'enemies' to build respectful relationships

On the surface, the workshop is a very simple 4-part process. In its deepest practice, it offers a radical paradigm shift and a pathway to embodying a life of compassion.

NVC helps us create a more peaceful state of mind by encouraging us to focus on what we are truly wanting rather than on what is wrong with others or ourselves.” –Marshall Rosenberg
